The Carriage
The carriage is similar to a traditional forklift because the lifting attachment could be tilted forwards and backwards from its horizontal. The tilt which is possible on this machine exceeds more than that of the vertical masts. There are different types of available lifting attachments, and this ability to position makes them as efficient as possible.
Most telehandlers are capable of tilting forward to a point where the carriage is actually parallel with the ground believe it or not! Furthermore, many units provide rotating carriages too. This enables the operator to adjust the lifting attachment radially. This translates to the load being able of being tilted backwards and forwards, as well as side to side.
Load Capacity
Telehandlers have a load capacity fairly similar to that of the vertical mast model. The model's overall capacity will be dependent on things like: boom extension and angle, whether the unit is lifting on rubber tires or on outriggers, and the amount of boom transaction deployed, if this is applicable. As well, which lifting attachment plays a very important role, as does the wind, the grade the equipment is operating on and so forth. All of these specifics could be changing on a regular basis and this gives the operator a lot more information to take into account.
Normally, telehandlers have some load charts available in order for the operator to reference so they can determine the load capacity of a particular lift. Depending upon the unit in particular and the boom's configuration, the load capacity may vary by thousands of pounds all together.
