Counterbalance lift truck Training
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration or OSHA require that anybody utilizing a counterbalanced forklift receive lecture style or classroom training. They also require that a supervised driving course is completed as well as periodic refresher training. There is no required minimum time for the supervised driving or classroom training. What's more, there is no frequency mandated for the refresher training either.
Counterbalanced Forklifts
The counterbalanced lift truck's weight is utilized to balance its load using its own weight. The forklift forks are in a fixed position but could be lowered and raised to secure and move cargo. The forks run parallel to the forklift's body. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration require that people who will be utilizing counterbalanced forklifts on the job be trained on the trucks while being in the kind of setting which they would be using them.
Classroom Training
Training either in a classroom or lecture style would provide lift truck and operator information for the truck you will be operating. Most training will include certain aspects like the load and weight capacity, height, how to fuel or charge the forklift. It includes how to gauge the time on the engine along with any forklift specific safety information like for example where to stand when walking around the truck. Either oral and/or written testing is part of the classroom training. There is no required minimum time for the training.
Supervised Driving
The lift truck driver has to learn how to use the counterbalanced lift truck while being supervised. The supervised driving has to take place in an area that reflects the environment the driver will be driving in. This atmosphere must include the kind of terrain she would be traveling on, have similar pedestrian and vehicle traffic close by, and similar surrounding structures nearby as well. There is no specific minimum number of hours the operator has to drive while being supervised.
