The lift truck is an important piece of machinery in most businesses which operate warehouses, distribution centers, storage handling and industrial facilities. This wonder machinery, the forklift is constructed of many components, including the essential carriage, the power source, the engine and the wheels. Lift trucks normally have various kinds of attachments also. The following are some of the most important lift truck components.

Engine of the Lift Truck - At the back of the equipment, the forklift has its power source. The various types of engine on the forklift would require varying power sources. Like for example, a forklift with an internal combustion engine can have any of the following as its power source: CNG gas, LP gas, diesel or gasoline. Electric motor lift trucks receive their power from a battery or fuel cells.

Truck Frame - The truck frame is the base of the forklift and the most essential of all the forklift parts. This forms the equipment's core. All other parts of a lift truck are attached to the base, like the axles, mast, wheels counterweight and overhead guard. Hydraulic fluid and fuel tanks could also be part of the frame assembly.

Counterweight Forklift Components - While lifting heavy cargo, the counterweight allows the machinery to be balanced. This specific component is cast iron and comes attached to the back of the forklift. The counterbalance balances the truck frame to prevent it from tipping over when a load is being carried or lifted on the front. In an electric lift truck, the heavy lead-acid battery gives balance and can work as part of the counterweight.

The Cab Area - this part is where the operator sits and drives the machinery. Several forklifts have a cab area that is open to the air and some have closed cabs. There are really many components situated in the cab for operating the forks. The cab contains such important parts like for instance the levers, switches, operator controls, steering wheel, seats and pedals. The dashboard has operator readouts.
